Last Wednesday, 3rd September, a friend and I decided to take a trip to West Norfolk. It has been a couple of weeks since I was last out, due to a family situation so I was looking foward to it.

First stop was at the NWT reserve at Holme Dunes - a Pied Flycatcher refused to show and there was nothing on the beach so we moved off to nearby Thornham for the rising tide, normally quite reliable. Swiss Replica Watches Not this time as there were loads of holidaymakers, even this late in the season and one large camper van parked just near the creek where we would normally park - and they were having a picnic. Taking the hint, we moved on again.

Despite the weather forecast, it became very cloudy and dark so we retired to the cafe at Titchwell RSPB for an early lunch. On arrival we saw that it was a Family Day promotion - surprising since this was the last day of the school holidays but we pressed on never-the-less.

After luch, we went to Island Hide - almost empty and the first luck of the day - three Curlew Sandpipers feeding just in front of the hide.

The usual Lapwing also made a close approach. This image is only cropped to shape!!

And then it was off to the beach, just after high tide. Nothing close in until a few Sanderlings made their way up the tide line. I find that photographing these delightful little waders is great fun and, despite the usual out-of-focus shots, managed some I was very pleased with as it was now a calm sunny day.

Back to Island hide where the weather conditions for photography were perfect and the birds close in. Avocets showed well.

and plenty of Ruff

Totally clean backgrounds are unusual and very welcome - a good day overall.
