Our last full day - cloudy, dull and rainy - not the ideal weather to be in a hide overlooking a wetland area, especially since the water levels had receded and left plants showing through the water. Not the perfect backdrop!!!

This shot of a Greenshank shows the problem and it is not a black-and white shot either.

Most of the birds stayed well away from the hides except for the odd Wood Sandpiper. At least the weather had brightened up later morning but still no sun.

The heavy overnight rain, and the odd showers through the morning made the mid-day drive over the Puszta rather hairy, even in a 4-wheel drive, - even the local Bown Hares stayed put for a shot.

For the afternoon, we were back in the Falcon Hide but the weather was still very overcast. It was a case of waiting for subject birds to perch on certain branches with a clean backgound but at least, once they had settled, the rain meant that they tended to stay put for a while. Several local Jackdaws and Kestrels were still around, protecting their nesting sites.

and even Rooks perched closely in the rain.

But the stars of the show were still the Red-footed Falcons, now up to three pairs after recent arrivals.

even staying put when being aware of us in the hide clicking away.

So a diappointing last full day.
