Wednesday 19th March. First call was to retrace our steps to the Findhorn Valley where a Dipper was nesting. We found it quite quickly although it never really came close but I still managed a few shots that were better that I had taken before so quite a result compared with yesterday.

Then back to Burghead with a gale blowing and the waves crashing over the harbour wall. Surely something of interest would be resting in the harbour. Well, yes - about a dozen Common Eider and that was all and even they paddled out into the heavy seas after half-an-hour.

Nothing again at Hopeman so we carried round to Lossiemouth and found one solitary Long-tailed Duck in the harbour.

We then went back to Loch Flemington. Rather cloudy weather but at least the American Coot performed for us reasonable closely.

It is quite amazing how this bird got here. Not known for migration or long flights and the locals say it is not and escapee and it is unringed. Quite a mystery but still, decent shots of a bird I had never expected to see this side of the pond www.lightqy.com.
